Objectives of Adult Education Centre:
To ensure access to information about news and opportunities in adult education
To ensure that high-quality professional in-service training, professional development and non-formal education programmes are implemented in ways to foster professional growth and personal development of specialists
To assess professional competencies acquired outside the formal education setting within the school’s educational programmes
To establish cooperation with regional municipalities, State Employment Agency, businesses and other domestic and international institutions and organisations with a view to sharing information and implementing joint projects
To foster excellence and implement best practices by organising seminars and other lifelong education events on municipal, regional and national levels.
On September 1, 2018, the Adult Education Centre was established at Daugavpils Construction Technical School.
An essential task of the Adult Education Centre is to foster excellence and implement best practices by conducting seminars, conferences, practical workshops and master classes for construction specialists and by organising seminars for vocational education teachers in the field of construction.
In cooperation with the State Education Development Agency, the school implements training activities under the “Growth and Employment” multi-fund operational programme of the European Union, specific support objective 8.4.1 “To Develop Professional Competencies of Employees”, within the European Social Fund project No. 184.108.40.206/16/I/001 “Improvement of professional competence of employed persons”.
In cooperation with the State Employment Agency, the school implements training activities under the “Growth and Employment” multi-fund operational programme of the European Union, specific objective 7.1.1 ““To raise the qualifications and skills of unemployed according to the labour market demands”, within the European Social Fund project No. 220.127.116.11/15/I/001 “Support to the education of unemployed people””.
Daugavpils Construction Technical School (DCTS) has entered into a number of cooperation agreements that regulate the organisation of seminars and webinars:
On 28 January 2020, with the Latvia Association of Civil Engineers. The NGO put the school on the list of in-service training course providers for construction specialists.
On 27 April 2020, with CMB Engineering Competency Centre Ltd., for the duration of 5 years.
On 14 May 2020, with the Latvia Association of Heat, Gas and Water Technology Engineers, for the duration of 5 years.
The Latvia Association of Civil Engineers and the Latvia Association of Heat, Gas and Water Technology Engineers award qualification points to participants of the school’s seminars and webinars, which remain an excellent way for vocational education teachers to boost their qualifications free of charge. In the academic year 2019/2020, DCTS Adult Education Centre provided in-service training for 190 individuals, including 125 civil engineers who sought to improve their qualifications.
In keeping with the normative acts of the Republic of Latvia, Daugavpils Construction Technical School has been delegated as the Institution to Evaluate Professional Competencies and appointed to assess professional competencies acquired outside the formal education setting and to issue an education-certifying document.
